A very good device, although im a little lost as to why the chipper is so much cheaper and it would appear to be the same device as the mulcher, appart from a differnt output chute, which you can buy separately resulting at a cheaper cost. Something to look at for anyone buying. For the functionality it is a powerful mulcher, producing fine chips. Green branches are pulled through quickly, what I have found is that seasoned branches are not pulled through as easily, and can stall the machine at the top end of the branch 50mm diameter. But it isn’t much an issue. Seasoned branches tend to back fill the loading chute but I haven’t found this an issue as it does clear with running. Make sure and read the manual, I have had the microswitch back off on me once and the machine would not start but that was my mistake not tightening it enough. Manuals are wrong for the building of the device and need corrected. If you have the electronic start, the bolts for the battery box and those that hold the engine down are one in the same. So far ive save 300 in bulk bags of wood chip for the garden, so half the machine was paid off in a weekend. I would like to have had some information in the manual to know if you can back off the ancil to allow bigger chips, other than buying thr chipper chute but there is no information there. Very happy so far. I woukd say for small gardens you dont need as capibile a machine, however for a smaller chipper than those used by tree surgeons it is very capible.

This is an excellent well made machine. The shredding/mulching system has been well designed and thought through.
My last shredder was the old style that used flail hammers to macerate the garden waste. This meant that material was better processed when dry and brittle. Any wet material or green wood tended to block or jam the machine. With the Forest Master machine the waste is cut by a rotating drum.
If you are old enough to remember the old fashioned cheese grater that used a small hopper and grating drum the Forest Master machine is similar but uses blades instead of the grater drum and of course on a much larger scale. This means that all waste can be processed wet or dry and provided that you do not overload the feed hopper/chute, it does not clog up. I had a mountain of waste to process when the Forest Master machine arrived and processed the lot without one stoppage.
The mulcher is super easy to assemble and it started first pull. I ordered the electric starter for when my wife uses the machine but starting by hand seems effortless so far.
